Littleton Police to host “Coffee with a Cop” Event
LITTLETON — Chief Matthew J. King announces that the Littleton Police Department will host a “Coffee with a Cop” event and all are welcome to come and enjoy free coffee while getting to know their local police officers.
WHEN:
Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 from 8-10 a.m.
WHERE:
Donelan’s Supermarket Café
236 Great Road, Littleton
WHAT:
Chief King and members of the Littleton Police Department will be present for open general discussion with members of the public. Coffee provided free of charge, and community members are invited to get to know their police officers face-to-face.
“Our officers are members of the community. We are volunteers, family members, coaches, moms, and dads, and we truly care about the people we serve. I encourage everyone to come out and meet us over a free cup of coffee, especially if you have not had the chance to meet a Littleton police officer in person,” Chief King said.
The event is part of National Community Policing Week. The Littleton Police Department is very dedicated to the concepts of community policing, building public trust, and police legitimacy.
About Coffee with a Cop:
Coffee With a Cop began in Hawthorne, Calif. in 2011 as a result of police officers brainstorming ways to better interact with their community. They developed a simple plan to break down the barriers that have been built between police officers and citizens — have a cup of coffee, discuss what’s on your mind, ask questions and make suggestions that could better the community.
Since its creation, Coffee With a Cop events have been held in more than 2,000 communities in 49 states. It is regarded as one of the most successful community oriented policing programs in the United States.
